Lads lets not get bogged down here(with figures) , lets have it out . How do people feel about the unemployed ? Does it bother people that they get money ? Because I think it does . . Its got nothing to do with economics , its just bitterness , imo .

Id be interested to know how they figure that .
You see ,Dan, an old man once said to me " Anyone in this country , with anything , stole it."
I belived that man , Dan . He spoke the truth . You see you shouldnt assume that American concepts and values apply here . This is no land of opportunity .

Sounds like a smart man. If he is still around ask him where the dole money is presently coming from, as more of it will be soon needed

He would indeed. It has been nicked. Now there is no money for the dole. Harsh but true. This will be a shock to those who have never had that thought cross their minds.

    Welcome to the global village.

Strange, the deafening silence from the PS caring-for-people brigade on threads such as this.

Suddenly all their high-minded arguments about justice and fairness are put back in the box, when the subject ain't PS pay-cuts/levies/promotional embargoes.

The cuter ones just keep schtum, even if they secretly agree with social welfare cuts in order to buttress their own salaries. Those with a less well developed sense of irony will voice their whole-hearted support for these cuts, safe in the knowledge they'll never need to draw the dole themselves.

I think we should take loans from Peter to pay Paul. Then pay Peter back with money we get from Jim....etc

Very well said Joe could not agree with you more, lets hear from people on the dole through no fault of their own, and see how they are coping?

I think people on the dole should have to do something within the community, pick up litter, supervise at a community centre, participate in tidy towns or a sports club etc.
If we were all born equal we would all be white, middle-class, middle-aged men!
