If people queueing were'nt opinionated with some kind of life story to tell or if Poles etc werent' in the queue it would be necessary to invent them in order to sell the article. The ambience of the article looks like something lazily sourced from a collection of imagined, dogmatic or rumored stereotypes gathered from other articles written the same way. The main interesting verifiable fact is Capuchin centre = Free food.

One man even mentioned that some of them "looked like millionaires".
Maybe you could help me here! What exactly does a millionaire look like?

If there is only one in that queue who needs it please do not put him down because others might be abusing. I really do not know nor even care about the percentage. What is relevant is that there are many of our population who depend on handouts.

You're right of course. Nor would I put an immigrant-slant on it like the OP did, I'm quite sure there are many Irish doing the same thing. That doesn't mean you can't speak out against those abusing the generosity of the Capuchins, who are kings among men, and taking food out of the mouths of those who really need it.

Let's leave it up to those 'kings among men' to decide if they're being abused then, shall we? Or maybe you actually don't believe your own compliment towards them, or maybe they are 'stupid kings among men' ?

That they do what they do doesn't provide an excuse for others to abuse it. Or would you condone the theft of vehicles if the door is left unlocked?

Who said they can't find jobs? Someone's offering free food and the people in question are availing of it. Their actions might be in bad taste, but no one's committing any crime or ripping off any tax payers.

If you're going to insist on starting multiple "foreigners are bad" threads then you could at least have the decency to make a coherent political point / argument based on something resembling fact and not mere speculation.

BTW I personally know at least two dozen Brazilian students (two of whom happen to be my cousins) and every single one of them works hard at unsociable hours for minimum wage. They all brought money into the country with them, every penny of which they have spent locally on tuition fees and rent etc. None of them seem to feel sorry for themselves and none of them avail of charity or social welfare. However, some Brazilian students (and other foreigners) evidently do avail of free food given out by the Capuchins. So what?

Are you accusing the Capuchin fathers of allowing themselves to be exploited? You are saying they are too stupid not to allow themselves be abused. That's pretty disrespectful. They could change the rules if they wanted.

To be honest we only have a third hand account of what she supposedly said, and only her word that it was true, so I don't see any point in continuing this line of discussion. I will say that even at the height of the lending madness, a minimum wage job would not get you anywhere near a mortgage for any sort of residence no matter how many hours you worked.

Perhaps she got one along with her husband before he went on disability and before the boom even started, in which case her mortgage would probably be pretty slim by now, who knows, which brings us right back to what I was saying about the futility of continuing this line of discussion.

If you can't do better than strawmen, I'd stop posting, if I were you. I'm not a religious person, but I don't accuse people who are of stupidity merely because of that fact. I find it interesting that you immediately equate faith with stupidity however. Are you a religious person yourself?

And in my opinion they probably should, in the interests of doing the most good. But then again, I'm not part of that religious order and don't have the same belief system they do.
