    Lenihan says may have to take majority stake in banks

    Ireland's Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said on Wednesday the state may take majority stakes in the country's banks if their property losses require further capital injections.

    Nationalisation by any other name...

    I don't understand why we don't just nationalise and be done with it. We will be forced to eventually.

    Indeed, with the share price what it is, buying the banks (bad debt and all) would be cheaper than continuing to re-capitalise and/or bail them out.
    The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

    Doesn't that mean that the share prices will be driven down again as the expectation for nationalisation increases once again?

    Lets just nationalise the banks, that way there is no more speculation on the issue, stability is achieved and we can move forward. FF's paint by numbers, wait til the sh1t hits the fan approach really fvcks me off.
