That is not enough. We need to cut and reform social welfare for two reasons- 1. We can't afford to pay 21bn in social welfare when revenue receipts are 34bn and 2. The 50 plus Social welfare programmes result in utter dependence on the state for those trapped by it.
It should be replaced by a lower paid Basic Income payment without conditions, except for residence, for those who do not pay income tax eg back to education and training restrictions lifted. Ditto on starting new businesses.. It would also reduce the need for over 2000 administrators.
I presume IBEC is not calling for a cut in corporate welfare. Heaven forbid loopholes, tax breaks for mega pensions, bank bailouts with our tax money, etc., etc., should be cut.
Progressive and fair taxation = 2012 Merc e250 elegance purchase price/value €47,910 Road Tax:- €156 2005 vw passat 1.9L diesel price/value €8000, Road Tax :- €582
IBEC had better shut its filthy trap if it knows what is good for it. More than any single group those basta*ds are responsible for what has happened to this country: they are the ones who demanded deregulation, massive coprorate welfare which clearly has done nothing for the country (if it worked like they claimed, we wouldnt be in this situation) and now, they demand a savage blow to the miniscule incomes of people who have paid the price of their sickening and incompetent greed. Christ almighty! Do these guys MEAN to start a revolution or something? They're going the right way about it.
Theres something rather strange about IBEC calling for cuts in social welfare the same day the 3 stockbroking firms tell us the banks need 25 billion.
So Social welfare needs money - BAD
Banks need money - GOOD
Now i understand
I believe that children are the future
Unless we stop them now.
whoever IBECs econiomist is shoudl ebf ired forthwith, I have alreday outlined on other threads why a cut in welfare payments would be a disater for the economy. But IBEC and their hired idiot of an economist are not looking for whats good for the economy they are looking for whats good for their members in the short term. And they have even called that wrong.
IBEC, they make me sick, they are using the depression to cut wages and make more money for employers and now they want to cut welfare payments. Most people loosing their jobs have paid years of A1 contributions, and they propose to cut the social insurance payments that these people have paid into and are entitled to.
and they are dumbe nough to think lower wages will make more money for them. It doesnt work, the greatd epression proved that thirty years ago.
Because if people have no money they cant buy what IBEC members sell, so it doesnt matter how low wages are, if you dont sell it you dont make a profit on it. They are eighty or ninety years behind the economic reality.
