This is just a rehash of CORIs work for your dole (workfare) proposals they piloted a few years ago

Interesting, but I think we could do something to re-train workers already in employment to keep their jobs before they get near this cycle at all.
I think our MNC's would be very much in favour of this, but we must try to protect the SME's too.

    Sorry about off topic.

Looks to me like this would put a legal sheen on a part of the 'black' economy. But doesn't Bact To Work Allowance do this - and there's the Family Income Supplement? Probably these will be abolished for new recruits. Seems like the Government is thinking ... at last!

this already kinda exists under the fas workplace scheme whereby you work for 7 weeks, keep your dole, and then the employer decides to whether to keep you on or not as a fully paid employee.

Great...a "get employees for free and if you keep them you'll get some corporate welfare" scheme where you pay them practically nothing but the same amount is paid out by the taxpayer leaving our fiscal situation the same...great...workfare this is called...very American of you Cowen

Will the state also be paying the wages of Sean Quinn's butler now?

the abusive capitalist in any employer with half a braint will say: good work retards, you just gave me a load of cheap employees, i'll fire the ones I have now and rehire them under this new scheme...... let the state pick up most of their wage bill.

workfare this isn't, nor is it sensible either.

Legalized exploitation that exactly what it is.

No way could that come in. There would be murder.

Or is it just another cynical deflection ploy from Zanu FF to take the heat off them over the Anglo fiasco!
