Begg has proposed a solution to nothing thus far. In fact his positioning recently has been aimed at objecting to whatever the government does. There is as yet no counter-proposal to how the Pensions Levy should be distributed. Why? Because the results of his pressure to have changes made willbe met with him objecting. Begg should be made redundant. He is utterly useless, an insider who will accepts none of the blame and zero responsibility.

Nationalising the banking system is looking increasingly sensible, and workable.

    Why?
Nothing will motivate the lazy / apathetic / Americanised / west-British types to embrace their culture and the Irish language.

    ive been thinking this too.

any interview ive heard of him lately when he broaches this subject invariably ends with him saying " everyone has to bear the pain equally" without EVER actually saying what pain he'll bear.

in fact when pushed on that it ususally results in "im not going to negotiate over the airwaves". i mean FFS , YOU started it ! the very LEAST he could do is NAME these so called rich guys getting off scott free as from what i can see its the people he hangs around with in the "social partners". this usally leads to some waffle about how the public sector is being targeted to the exclusion of everyone else which just get up the nose of everyone else in the country because they know what patent bollocks it is.. i swear the union lads have done more damage to the public sector than the PDs!

to be brutally fecking honest i dont think he can walk the walk anymore. he's and his mates have coasted for so long thanks to partnership that they cant remember what its like to deal with an actual dispute. and folded so far into the establisment in this country to boot that theres not a notion in his head of what its like in the real world anymore.

The union fat cats are as much to blame for the problems in this country as the other fat cats.

Begg should resign from the Central Bank. When all was rosy and the PS unions were shafting private sector workers with their pay and benefits, Begg was silent. Now he fears that gravey train is coming to an end he wants to continue to shaft private sector workers and accuse all private sector workers of being millionaires.

These union Fat Cat's talk loudly until the government have no choice but to silence them with appointments to state boards such as FAS and others or else with partnership all at the general taxpayer's expense.

Did Begg take a paycut by the way in his role as ICTU head? Feel the pain equally David, then lecture the rest of us.

Union heads only know how to appease their base so as to get re-elected. They offer no solutions to this country's problems, mainly because they are part of the problem.

He wants the income levy on himself graded up significantly, and a 48% tax rate imposed on himself.

    adrem mentioned the ODCE.
Does anyone recall them appealing for additional resources (c5-10)to carry out their duties as they were completely understaffed?
Bertie and his FF mates refused. I have to wonder why? Were they afraid that the ODCE might uncover something?
Does anyone thinks that this stinks? given that the discredited Financial Regulator employs hundreds

It would seem the same place Declan Ganley gets his, and I doubt they are cheap.

So is there going to be a special 'union fat-cat' tax band then of 48%?

The unions chiefs write off everything against tax anyways or else have it paid for by the union expense account, if they go for lunch with someone or go on a junket, all paid for by a tax write off or by their expense account.

They absolutely do not share the pain with the rest of us, none of us have expense accounts. Begg is a waffler and out of touch with real people.
