FG renew attack on the Financial Regulator

Fine Gael leader is calling for the Director of Corporate Enforcement to be given the lead role in investigating activities at Anglo Irish Bank.

Party leader Enda Kenny says the Financial Regulator is not in a position to investigate the matter because it is part of the financial system.

He is calling on the entire board of the regulatory authority to resign or be dismissed for the sake of Ireland's international reputation.

Mr Kenny says the investigation into Anglo Irish Bank must be transparent to restore investor confidence in the banking system."

The Government do not realise that the entire financial system is discredited and radical change is required. FF deride FG are a "conservative" party. However, FG appear to realise that revolutionary change is required.

When will FF and the Greens catch up?

Pity Enda didn't put up a decent election manifesto in 2007 rather than "my bag of giveaway goodies is bigger than Bertie's".

Lookit, we'll have no truck with that reality and track record guff around here, we're talking about Irish politics, remember.

FG.... y'know i wouldn't mind but they have never actually had a proposition on what they would have done differently, they were not out attacking the FR before the crisis so this is just populist bunk on their behalf, in fact, the only people calling out the regulator were from within the financial industry.

a day late and a dollar short, that moniker goes across the board

Best off referring to them as FF/Greens in the future, much the same as others refer to SF as SF/IRA as they are 2 sides of the same coin.

F.F and F.G. will join together in the next few years, they are no different now.

If you think that FG would have tolerated a leader perjuring himself before a Tribunal, you are mistaken.

If you think that FG would conspire with its donors from the construction industry to defraud the citizen of billions by artificially hiking up the value of homes, you are also mistaken.

    I could go on.

The only thing about FF that FG people are interesting in is erradicated the malevolence of Fianna Fail from Irish society.

To FG the idea of a merger of FF would be akin to volunteering to become HIV positive.

FF and FG do things very differently.

FG were hardly going to be calling for this in 2007 18 months before any of this scandal broke? And inf airness to Enda Kenny, he was the only leader to question benchmarking in 2003 so he's far from populist.

Lots of people were complaining about the financial regulator for quite some time now. Benchmarking too.
