In 2003 who opposed benchmarking? Did Labour or the shinners?

No, FG with 31 TDs stood out alone to oppose the scheme. There's a difference between complaining about something and taking a principled stand that you believe this is wrong.

And theres a difference between responding to public complaints (and there were many) in the name of a principled stand, and actually having a coherent plan to get us out of this mess and the will to follow it through.

    Time for change in FG

Enda Kenny has joined the "reform the regulator game" about 3 months after the Greens

Remember how timid he was re Bertie Ahern's finances ? Well it's the same thing here.

Worse still is that as he's not in government with any responsibility he had a big long snooze/happy holiday over Christmas

and all he can come up with is FIRE THEM !

He hasn't even suggested any alternate configuration of the regulator.

Kenny is a failed, lazy lightweight - he's had months of snoozy time and he ends up where the Greens were months back ?

if the Greens were in favour of reforming the regulator three months ago, how come they haven't done anything about it?

    The Regulator is very busy.
No, not investigating the banks but small credit unions. No detail is too small for the eagle-eyed supervisor.
My local credit union is run entirely by volunteers and takes a cautious approach to lending yet IFSRA has ordered it to cut its dividend and not give a rebate to borrowers. Others in the region have been instructed similarly.
What are these guys doing with AIB etc.? I would love to know the details but "commercial confidentiality" is supreme as Mr Lendahand said.
