    Team Aer lingus

Looks like there is more bad news on the way on the jobs front. 1200 jobs at risk. We are in the middle of a complete meltdown

This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Or maybe we'll have to wait for another headliner before uncertainty becomes fear amongst the slumbering classes -- once this happens they'll be on the streets, disorientated, foaming at the mouth and demanding that somebody's head is put on a spike.

It seems it's not just taxi drivers who'll be taking over the airport.

Will Siptu be out there whining about the poor civil service tomorrow? Those boyos play a mean game. I really admire them for their neck.

I'd love to see the trio of Coughlan's, Lenihan's and Cowen's head on a spike outside the Central Bank.

TEAM (The Experts At Maintenance) Aer Lingus was created by the management in the late 80s (if I remember correctly). These people were my former colleagues in Aer Lingus and one Monday I came into work and found they were now a separate company. I do not recall a vote amongst the other 6,000 of us but the lads in the hangars chose the deal as recommended by their worker-director-Aer Lingus-board-members-trade-unionsts-leaders. Later they became FLS and then SR Tech-whatevers.

I may have the date-lines and co. names slightly wrong but that's what happened - the Unions sold out the company. I took the lump in 1993 when I realised the Unions had sold us out. Now look at them.

I have to say Aherne had absolutely nothing to do with the break-up of Aer Lingus. Two TDs were most prominent in convincing staff that TEAM was a good idea - convicted criminal Ray Burke (FF), and Labour's Sean Ryan. After it happened I'll never forget a huge meeting at ALSAA where Sean Ryan was torn a new a**. I felt a bit sorry for him considering even the unions wanted the change, and he was so popular with Aer LIngus workers before this.

similar thing happend to An Post and SDS .

all those poor sods are on the dole now too.

TV3 news saying theres a meeting with management at 9.30 tomorrow. sorry to be blunt but that means theyre gone.

the meeting will essentially amount to an announcement that theyve all been let go and they'll be told to go home by 9.35.

ive seen this happen before. its nasty and its cold but its what happens. poor feckers.
