International Factors my arse, it was the "Fianna Fáil Bubble Economy"

As each week runs in to the next and more and more people realise that we are in a depression as opposed to a recession, fianna fáil will continue to lay the blame at the door of International factors, international factors, international factors.

This evening 365,000 public servants will reevaluate the performance of the Government from a new perspective. The vast majority will not easily be fobbed off when seeking an explanation for their substantial pay cut.

The vast majority know also that Brian the chainsaw is only getting warmed up for the main act, which is being deferred for other years. Brian might well pass the chainsaw to his successor, should there be an election.

Kenny nailed the real reason in his speech today in the soundbite of the decade "The Bubble Economy" for a bubble is what it was.

As the cuts cause pain and loss the public will get a greater appreciation of the bubble economy.

Already I am finding that people who would have welcomed unemployed non nationals in the country have a very different tune this evening.

Ireland of the welcomes and the free lunch is gone.

The massive proportion of rent subsidy and unemployment benefit and childcare payments paid to non nationals will now come under close scrutiny and will be subject to a much more begrudgeing attitude.

    .
I've little sympathy - they are the sector that happily accepted the largesse doled out by Benchmarking Bertie on the back of what, as you say, was a bubble.

A large one off windfall tax stream was blown on day to day spending that has to be paid year in year out after the bubble has long burst. The maths simply don't add up!!

Good the first time. Maybe the second and even the third. But it's the Single Transferable Post by now. A month ago there was a blizzard of Israel/Palestinian threads. Now the whole latest developments page is taken up with ever more economic crisis posts, most of which say the same thing and could easily fit into pre-existing threads

Most of those who were pro mass immigration were well to do lefties, as the cuts bite, they are being brought down to the level that the working class experienced over the last few years.

It has, as people are starting to stand up over in England, it will start here as well. It has been building for years.
