Brian Lenihan "unpatriotic to shop in the North"

I was shock by such a statment, from not only a (so call) proeminent Irish politician, and our very own finance Minister.

How can he dare say something like that

I'll tell you what is unpatriotic: the way FF used and abuse not only the system but the IRish peoples who voted for them.

If our mininster wanted to do something really patriotic he should shout himself in the head, at least it would show that he has some sort of pround and felt ashame about what he and his collegues brought this country to ....

I feel like shouting myself in the head right now. Interesting concept.

It is in line with Brendan Smith's refusal to include Northern Ireland in the pork compensation scheme.
"It is only for Irish firms " he said and repeatedly used "Irish" and "Ireland" to refer to the Republic only.
Gives a new meaning to "The Republican Party"!

Is this the same Brendan Smith I heard on radio on Saturday saying the cheaper pices in the North were as much a media invention as real - and anyway most people from South were only buying drink?
(No wonder the country is f***ed if this is the calibre of idiot we elect).

Is this the same Brendan Smith I heard on the radio this morning unable to explain why the Dept of Agriculture hasfailed to budget properly for current farm scheme payments or indeed where these extra millions are now going to come from?
(As I said, no wonder .......)

And are these the only two occasions on which I have ever heard of Brendan Smith? (Yes to that).

Funny thing is I can recall a UK gov adviser saying a few years back when it was the other way round [people from north coming south] that Dublin better not expect any sympathy when things came back to bite them on the bum.

And is the same so called Republican party which is trying to stop Irish immersion schools and as a result is now ready to waste time in court fighting the gaelscoil movement because it thinks kids being fluent in two languages is a bad thing.

Do FF ministers defer in everything to their senior civil servants.

Well whats wrong with calling the 26 counties 'Ireland'/ It is our countrys official name, the 6 six counties are called Northern Ireland to sperate the two. Ireland and Northern Ireland.

You dont think we are called the 'Republic of Ireland' did you????
