Irish Nationwide had shares in Anglo Irish

Some of the names are in this article, the inclusion of Tom Bailey's name is interesting, but the title itself is telling...

When were Cowen and Lenihan told that the shares purchased in the bank were bought with money loaned by the bank secured on the value of the share purchased?

    Yes we cab.

It would appear that mounting public outrage will demand at the very least, consideration by the High Court of the need to appoint an inspector to examine the internals enshrined within Anglo Irish Bank.Perhaps this could be conducted in conjunction with the support of other State officers who may be required to unmire the ever-unfolding messing that is being revealed.
Cowen and Lenihan need to face up to this and in their oft quoted urgings for a 'can-do' attitude from the masses, need to demonstrate that they are able to face up to some harsh realities
There are many esteemed and knowledgeable Irish men and women who would be suitably qualified to do the State some service.Any suggestions for the role of Inspector into Anglo Irish Bank should the need arise,'going forward'?

Bertie Ahern perhaps? The government wouldn't surprise me with such a move.

He would have the accounting backround necessary for the digging involved alright WRH.Perhaps conflict of interest concerns would rule out his candidacy?
However a man familiar to Ahern would imo be eligible and have the ability to head up such an Inspectorate.
Perhaps Mahon Tribunal senior counsel Mr. Des O'Neill SC would be prepared to "step up to the plate"?

Ok I am not altogether educated about Anglo Irish, but can anyone tell me what are the prospects of Seanie paying back his loans??

If he bought shares at the top of the cycle and they are now suspended from trading, does that mean he cannot repay? Or did he still own shares when trading was suspended?

Also how much does he currently owe the bank, what is it invested in and what are the chances of repaying that given the collapse of property prices and rental yields around the world?

Is it me or is the chances of the loans being paid back to Anglo from the directors and developer friends of Fianna Fail slim to none?

The loans to developers and Seanie are highly unlikely to be recovered. But in total this will probably only amount to €500million.
The real worry is the other 90 odd billion in loans that will probably lead to losses in excess of €10BN

Not unless they'd had a bit of a digout first.....

though might be worth asking the cabinet a few direct questions....
