    Ireland 2010 - 2011

So what will Ireland be like in 2010-2011?

Will we all be down the pub sinking a few jars talking about the craic of 2009 before driving of in our 010 Cars?

Or will we be knee deep in a depression/recession?

What will the country be like?

How high will unemployment be in 2011?

Will we be looking at the light at the end of the tunnel?

Or will America have started a new world war? (Wars are greatthings to get nations out of depressions!)

No idea where we'll all be myself, but I would hazzard a guess I'll [We'll] all be paying an extra 500 euro on car tax. Talking off which I am thinking off flogging my old Ford for a Jag.

    Unemployment at about 15%.
More pay cuts across all sectors, deep ones this time.
Deep cutback on capital spending, as the Govt. finds it difficult to borrow on the international market.
Protests on the streets.Probably turning violent
    Increased crime.
Exporters to really suffer, as Britain and America remain deep in a slump.
    Increased funding for soup kitchens.
High inflation, as a result of the stimulus, still low or negative growth
The possibility that we should be seeing be seeing green shoots, if not things will get very bad..

I crack 3:30 for the marathon, and the local makes a come back, as people get out to escape the pain. Entertainment services always do really well in long recessions.

A major hotelier wiith a chain of hotels in Donegal slashed ALL drinks to 3 euros each yesterday. I predict it will be do or die for many businesses between now and 2010. Drop prices or go to the wall.
2010 will be the year of the 3 euro pint in Dublin.

I suspect that we will have adapted to any changes by then, (what choice do we have) because we adapt very well, at home, and abroad, to changes. There will however be changes that we will find difficult to absorb, but we will, but not before our rep as the friendly, helpful people has disappeared.
