We will look like Belgium if anyone knows the country well. High unemployment, social and urban decay, the social fabric destroyed and too many illegal immigrants.

    On Death and Dying

Denial - we have only passed this point (2008/2009)
Anger - We are entering this phase and I expect it will last until beyond the local elections and may be beyond L!sb0n 2 (note I spelt that word as a swear word!)
Bargaining - we will enter this phase, this Summer and really be in the middle of it by the start/middle of 2010 and we will start to live with the expectations of an economy that is not in constant party mode but needs to take it down a gear or two.
Depression - this will be the summer of 2010 when we realise that Uncle Sam does not own or bequeath all the jobs on the planet.
Acceptance - we realise well if we are not going to be helped I better get off my ar5e and help myself....and off we go....hopefully in a more sustainable, post teenage kind of way!

Fianna Fáil's dastardly plan to bankrupt the country shall be nearing completion. By 2011 the world will be so bankrupt that we wont be able to afford to hold a general election. Permanent government!

I spend a lot of time in Brussels, and it is a beautiful cosmopoliton city. I can't say anything about the rest of the country as I rarely leave the city, but I have not heard of anythng bad going on. On the contrary. Where did you get this info from?

Deep cutback on capital spending, as the Govt. finds it difficult to borrow on the international market.

    Increased crime.
Exporters to really suffer, as Britain and America remain deep in a slump.
    Increased funding for soup kitchens.
High inflation, as a result of the stimulus, still low or negative growth
The possibility that we should be seeing be seeing green shoots, if not things will get very bad..

I crack 3:30 for the marathon, and the local makes a come back, as people get out to escape the pain. Entertainment services always do really well in long recessions.
Seems like a reasonable summary ,if a little optimistic
