i think editing to make Clear that its in UK would be appropriate.

"UK FSA uninvolved in Irish bank guarentee" would be an accuarate heading.

The fianna fail thing is only my opinion but hardly a conspiracy theory to suggest that some of the leaders of fianna fail could be involved in mass corruption.

True, but six months ago, they would have been involved (for customers in UK), so "no longer" is also accurate.

Just to be clear..when the Irish scheme was less generous than the UK scheme, Irish banks would top up locally in the UK (Financial Services Compensation Scheme) to ensure that UK depositors with Irish banks would not be at a disadvantage when it came to compensation in the event of a bank collapse. Now that the Irish scheme is more generous, the top up is not necessary. However, the fact that the UK is pointing this out smacks of a form of economic warfare. The UK is clearly trying to frighten people to withdraw their savings with Irish Banks operating in the UK. It seems that the Brits are more than happy for Irish Banks to lend in the UK but not take deposits.

    Indeed, this is the story.

The Irish authorities could retaliate by reminding customers of UK banks here that their deposits are not fully covered.

I feel sorry for the FF posters on this site. It must be a draining experience defending the indefensible after a while. And they seem to get fewer and fewer in number.

What has this to do with FF defenders? The title of this thread is factually incorrect.
