An Bord Snip - Ireland's most irritating euphemism?

Anyone out there as irritated as I am about how quickly Official Ireland started spouting the term "An Bord Snip Nua" like it's our newest best friend?

What's wrong with something direct and honest like the "Cuts Board" or "Cuts Commission" - something reflecting the reality of the crisis we actually face, and not something suggestive of a hairdresser training authority.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the actual official name of this body?

It's just the Indo trying to coin a phrase they will now overuse for months if let.
I urge all right-thinking people to refer to this body by any other term.

Yes, it is an infuriatingly awful phrase. Who was the numpty who coined it?

    Someone on here most likely...
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

I first heard it on Boring Ireland. You could tell the presenter was smirking as he was uttering it.

In response to the thread title...

"An Bord Snip - Ireland's most irritating euphemism?"

    Yes.

What's worse is that some of the people who read the tripe that is the Indo will probably believe that's the correct term.
