It's estimated that 10,000 jobs in Ireland depend on Dell for business and this announcement, whilst widely expected for some time, is expected to devastate the region.

First jobs to go in April. Desktop assembly will be be the first to go, followed by all other lines over the next 12 months with the server line being the last to go.

They'd need the special branch keeping them under close guard.

Indeed just heard the official news about 10 mins ago, which was the worst kept secret in the country, this is simply going to devistate Limerick, these job loses, will have a major impact on the indigenous businesses, and expect many thousands more jobs to go.

Unfortunately for these people, if they have bought a house in the last 2-4 years they will already be in negative equity, and now they will have huge levels of personal debt that will be difficult to pay off and unlike the 1980's emigration wont get you away from your troubles.

Don't know exactly myself, but its a lot. Most of the signage on the factory floor is in English and Polish and there are even signs (in the toilets for example) that are only in Polish.

No you didn't - it is likely they have the option to go back to Poland is also another feasible take on the question.
    We are "they"
