He was a junior officer and was "told" that he would call in sick on a particular day, and this happened regularly. I dont know how they get so much considering they are largely uneducated glorified security guards. And dont talk to me about the risks of the job, how many prison officers have been killed in Irish prisons? Half them hope for an assualt by a prisoner so they can get a big claim and take a year off work. Loads of them (along with cops and other public sector ) are landlords. One officer in mountjoy had about 15 houses which he rented out in Phibsboro and he built up that portfolio just using his salary and overtime and easy finance from the banks who are always willing to lend to the job for life public sector parasites.
tut tut . The P word again. Tell me, PD, do you consider all public servants parasites? Some? Whom?

The prision officers average annual salary of €61.8k is included in the civil service average with the 2 admin categories. Don't ask me why- its from the CSO.
€40k is probably a more correct average for admin staff in the CS.
Prision officers and guards earn by far the most on average €61-62k- I suspect about 20% of this is overtime.

that would most likely be the case if most irish people voted based on current issues , they dont , most vote based on who their people vote for , this is especially the case with FF where if they were to put a duck up for election , it would still get number one with many voters

On RTE web site the gov intend to cut 2 billion more than budget day and increase tax. It looks like a 10% public service pay cut is on the way social partnership or no social partner ship.
