A bit of positive sentiment isn't a bad thing provided people already appreciate the seriousness of the situation, which at present they do not. The protests / outrage / mock outrage seen from so many over the likes of the ending of universal medical cards for the over 70's and union leaders continuing to say that the pay rises in the last social partnership agreement must be paid are ample proof of that.

The cuts that are on the way are going to be deep and unpleasent but they have to happen and Cowen has to let people know that this is necessary and on the way.

My issue is that a "consensus" man like Cowen lacks the decisiveness for the job and will shirk the tough steps we need.
