The Taoiseach simply wants the Social Partners to solve the economic mess for him and FF, despite the fact that he and the FF led Govt created it in terms of poor public finance management. The lack of leadership is frightening!

Cowen will be gone before the end of 2009, lots of senior FF gombeens are going nuts. Expect a heave and a split in FF later this year.

Cowen is now looking at how the History Books will remember him, and it is sh!t or get off the potty time.

That article is a good start.

Lets see what he pulls out of the bag next.

Stepping every pay grade in the Civil and Public Service back to where it was in 2005 would be a good start.

Brian Cowen " Five years of hardship" for the public that is ....and for good behaviour ...another few with that.
At least in prison you get out early.
For a government that only noticed the downturn in July of 2008 , and them in 20 minutes take a decision that cost us €180m (the pork issue) . But won't tacke the public service till next june. I'd love to see his figures for arriving at this "five years"
Does he take the public to be complete buffoons, he still treats the pubic as a FF ard Fheis audience. We need someone that wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

aherns minister for finance who created the mess.

The man who said he believed aherns fairytales.

The man who became FF leader with no challenge.

    The shortest serving FF leader.

The man who could sing on a trailor in Offaly but could not lead a country.

This is a press release which states that every projection and budget he stood over in his time was false.
There was no contingency plans then and there is no concrete plan now.
He is basically saying to the unions "we have f@cked up the budgetary process, any chance ye will volunteer to take a pay freeze and maybe lose some staff, your choice though, cause its partnership". A leader without balls.

Ah yes 5 years, so the criminals can base their 2012 manifesto on it.
"We Took The Pain Now Let's All Share the Gain".

Dream on Brian, you will be a backbench opposition TD within 18 months with no more than 40 of your current incompetents for company.
This country has had enough of FF, it took nearly 80 years but the country is sick of the sight of ye, yer lies, yer arrogance, yer theft and now yer total incompetence

    Lovely idea.

Pity Eamon Gilmore has other ideas.

Biffo might end up on the back benches, with Bertie, but he won't be on the opposition side of the House until 2012, at the earliest.

    .

There will be a general election this year and FF are going to get a very serious kicking, a long overdue and well deserved one also.

Cowen really hasn't an idea. The real question that should be answered is how long will we have to wait before there is a heave against him from within and who will instigate it. In all probability it will be a back bencher in the mould of mccrevey against Haughey. Or what would be a significant enough issue for the greens that would enable them to walk with some degree of creditability
