    Galtee telling some porkies?

    Hi Guys,

Frivolous I KNOW, in comparison to other matters?

Last day or two this has turned up on Joe Duffy show.

People rang in to Galtee last few days cancelling the hampers going to their loved ones in the states and abroad. Cancelling because of the pork scare. But they were told not to worry All the pork in the hampers is sourced elsewhere and is not Irish at all, so no harm.

Of course, people were a bit put out because it was apparently sold as something like "Send this hamper so your loved ones can enjoy a Galtee Traditional Irish Breakfast on Christmas Morning".

This could be seen as false advertising if the bacon in the hamper is anything but IRISH. One could argue if it was any old bacon from anywhere, then people could just go to the local store and buy.

    Heres the site currently:

Galtee Breakfast the original Traditional Breakfast

These Galtee Breakfast Hampers apparently do not have Irish rashers etc - instead they are all sourced from Denmark, the US it seems.

Now you might say from looking at the site currently that their is no mention of Galtee Irish Breakfast anywhere - Just Galtee Breakfast. Well - look closer, point your mouse at the top graphics and wait for the ALT text to pop up - it says "Galtee Breakfast Traditional Irish Breakfast Servered Christmast Morning" - Spelling Mistakes included.

OR right click on the page and "View source" to see the HTML Code in a text editor - note in here Galtee Irish Breakfast all over the place.

I reckon since being on Joe Duffy they changed the graphics to say Galtee Breakfast and forgot to change the ALT pop up text.

Also added was this "We are forced to make special arrangements to fulfill orders with other EU and USDA approved ingredients from plants outside of Ireland." - ( updated 12/08/08 11:30AM EST ) - after it first came up on JOE,

    Cheers
    Aidan
