However, I can't say that cos honesty is scorned upon in democracies like ours. Civil servants work so hard that it's hard to express.
Why do they have second and third jobs...is it because they are paid so little as civil servants....As a civil servant who works a full 8 hour day and has a salary of under 30, 000 Euro, I find it hard to take this s..t.....

A few salient facts: the work force here is 2.1m. There are 368,000 public servants (17%), of which 38,000 are civil servants (1.8%), ie the civil service is fekkin tiny, people!!

The Property Pyramid Scheme will not fund the public sector any longer.

We can hardly sack Civil Servants.

We could export them to other Countries and give them a gratuity of one years Salary to go, along with an option to return to fill natural wastage after the public service has contracted by 20%.

It would make most sense to export those in the higher pay scales.

    Am I nuts?
    Yes you are nuts

It is open season on the public sector amongst the right wingers

My wife is a Civil/Public servant

If there are only 360000 public servants how come we cant afford to pay them?

We need a public service we can afford to pay and fund pensions for.

Who cares. Sack 'em anyway. Lazy good for nothings. Look at all the trouble they've got the government into with their so-called economic "advice".

We should keep about 10,000. The ones who are prepared to do an honest days work and not keep moaning on about their flexitime or how hot it is in the office.

If you can show me the economic advisor who advised that the FF magical property bubble maker was the way to go I'll kick him in the face myself. But I suspect you'll be looking for quite a long time.

Ok joking aside. There are between 400 and 450 senior civil servants in this country. (assistant principal up).

    What have they been doing?

Lenihan is too thick to have come up with this nonsense on his own(or anything else either).

As regards the lower clerical grades (the other 29,500) - that work could be farmed out much more cheaply! Time is running out for Fianna Fail and their apologists!
