41,214 - 17% non Irish on the live register!

41,214 non Irish are on the live register!

How can Ireland as a nation facing 2 years of recession afford to pay for all these non Irish?

Surely now is the time to say thanks and good bye.

It's an absolute DISGRACE ! They should never have been allowed into this country in the first place.

So we let them work here, pay taxes, rent houses, and generally contribute to society - and at the first sign of trouble - throw them over a cliff? Not very Christian now DrKildamore, is it?

Anyone who has worked here and paid taxes is entitled to State help if they loose their job. Deal with it. Ireland is never going back to the kind of fantasy "comely maidens dancing at the Crossroads" idyll that you obviously hold dear.

A favourite refrain from the two Brians these days is "Ireland is an open economy" - it's true financially and socially.

Who are "they"? Anyone without an Irish passport? *pats Centurian on the head*

I personally think that Ireland would be a better place if Boyzone had not been allowed to get back together - although, I suppose - they are off the Live Register now

We neeed to find a way for holding on to these people

To be able to claim Jobseeker's allowance, they need to have worked. They are only getting their own money back. The people we need should be more concerned about are the workshy wasters who have never worked in the last five years. These people should not be getting any funding from the taxpayer.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

The other thread on this has closed, so I'll stick in my contribution here ;-)

That's quite high, but in fairness I would presume many of them had been working in construction and, like many others who worked in the industry, are now feeling the bite. They're still preferable to the natives who never worked an hour in their lives out of laziness and have the rest of us funding their beer and bookie allowances.

Ah sure ! Let them all in ! Let them work for five minutes and then live parasitically off the hard working Irish taxpayers for the rest of their lives ! Brilliant ! - Any you think that it's others who are living in a fantasy ? ! Wake up ! !

Why did you start two threads on the same thing in two different sections - economy and current affairs? Feel strongly about this eh?

I imagine you sitting at your laptop foaming at the mouth...

Thanks to whoever closed the other one btw

I'm presuming that your sweeping generalisation is based in some kind of fact, vetted statistics, merit...?

What makes you think all non-Irish "live parasitically" and all Irish taxpayers are "hard working".

Although, I'm presupposing some kind of rational thought process there so...maybe, just don't answer....unless you have a link to the "100% of Irish workers confirmed as hard working" respected study that you rely on.
