Now, in terms of TV3, you might actually be right. But hardly elsewhere.
And with that comes an inevitable shift in agendas.
Try to get your head around this, JCSkinner:

A person can be a woman without being a feminist and a person can be a man without being a misogynist. There is no "inevitable shift in agendas" that comes with having a uterus.

    That's nice.
Let me know when you intend to address any of the points I actually did make, as opposed to the ones you're hearing in your head.

It’s a fairly stupid time to be taking that accolade from men.
Maybe the single men are waiting until the market goes right again.
Honestly girls this is not a thing to be proud of.

There are probably more women working for the state who are considered good mortgage risks

Women are more optimistic about the future and feel compelled to buy as they feel they do not have time to wait out the current economic climate
Fianna Fail will allow the Irish People, to me milked like Milch Cows, by the CIF through high house prices, rents, and land prices, at the expense of competitiveness, and quality of life. FF+CIF=1

    ?

Where do you get that from?

    look at the country.

we bought into the western world American style consumerist economy model. to do that you have to have women , or whoever's raising the kids really, to be out there in the workplace and you need to concentrate on the value of acquiring "things" over "worthless" activities like child rearing and social cohesion

30yrs ago the social model of this country was one person buying a house , supporting a partner and raising on average 4 to 6 kids. everyone went to mass and no one got divorced. hence the demographic that made us the youngest population in Europe.

    now?

BOTH partners are required to purchase a home . on average were having 1.5 kids or none. the other partner that WAS raising kids is now forced into the workplace to keep a roof over their head and were all up to our arses in debt on credit cards buying "things" and the biggest growing demographic in the country is divorced people

the net result? the country's dying. by that i mean were not replacing ourselves and if it wasn't for the immigrants the population would be falling in real terms and were now barreling towards a pension crisis which'll mean a complete THIRD of the population will be retired by 2030.

ALL so a bunch of greedy business types could cash in on one generation. after all what do you think happens to all those failed marriages? yup someone makes a buck out of it. generally the gov in terms of extra revenues from tax paid by people now being forced to work who didnt before and their builder mates who make a fortune flogging appartments to em and gov. yet again making more of the consequent taxes in them having to run another home. its a lovely little money earner.

its not just here, look at italy. half its population is over 50 and the rest of the western world is heading down the same road. hell australia and france are PAYING people to have kids now. its no coincidence that the countries in europe that ARE growing are the ones like poland that are pretty much what WE were in the 1970s in terms of social norms. (by the way im NOT advocating holy catholic irleand or any of that, im just pointing out what the changes FROM that resulted in)

it took various political parties 30yrs but theyve suceeded in turing us into an economy NOT a society. thats why you wont hear a politician use the word anymore. chalie mcreevy even made it official with tax individualisation and the media rolled right on in behind it, purportedly on grounds of female liberation but in fact it was based on ad revenue grounds, which is the medias bread and butter, and floggin it to a whole new demographic. "desperate single women"

christ we even had an ex president in the form of mary robinson come out and basically say if a woman had a degree and was raising a family she was a failour.

Men are more nomadic, they will up sticks and move far more quickly than a woman. Women like to have something tangible and real to hang onto. Plus, they have been brought up to think that owning a car and a house makes you independent and empowered. I think the only people who become empowered though, are the banks, estate agents, and builders. I work with a girl who was so desperate to own property, she bought a place with a boyfriend (they went half on the mortgage), and she doesn't even like him that much. Now she is trying to get him to move out, but he is having none of it. There is a bit of a Mexican stand off at the moment, and she spends most of her time in her Mothers house.

Nail on head. Its the shopping genes - women as we all know are incapable of passing a nice pair of shoes without buying them, let alone passing up a property just asking to be filled with cushions, throws and oversized purple candles. Basically they just can't help themselves, the poor mites.

Electro, women and girls make up 50.2% of the total population (Census 2006). What percentage of Ireland's wealth is owned by women? What percentage of the workforce are they? What percentage of businesses are owned by women? What percentage of companies are headed by women? What percentage of elected representatives are women? What percentage of judges are women?

Basically I'm asking you to supply some statistics which prove your contention that Ireland is now a matriarchy.

If you can show that women own more of Ireland's wealth than men do, participate in the labour force more than men, own and control more companies than men and are more likely to make the laws (either as elected representative/judges) and develop public policy than men, then you'll have proved yourself right.

If you can't then you're just another whinger.
