well its a done deal now.

the social partners have signed a paydeal which theyve to take to their members but its an 11 month payfreeze . which if my figures are correct will mean if inflation stays circa 4% per year will result in a 2% - 3% pay CUT in the public sector pay. thats conservative.

hate to say it but told ya, only out you have now is if it somehow STILL collapses and i dont see that happening now.

Deal reached at national pay talks

A deal has been reached on a new national wage agreement.

The Taoiseach will make a statement shortly after 18 hours of talks at Government Buildings.

Employers, unions and Government officials had earlier reached agreement on a number of elements of pay terms attached to the deal.

Agreement in principle had been reached on a 6% pay increase to be paid over 21 months.

The money would be paid in two phases of 3.5% and 2.5%, with an extra 0.5% at the end of the term for the lower paid.

Public sector workers would have an 11-month pay pause and there would be a three-month pay pause for all private sector workers.
