Dublin office rents rose by 43% in 2006

Office space cost €823 per square meter to rent annually, in the prime central districts of Dublin 2 and Dublin 4, both south of the river Liffey. With office take-up at a record high, rents went up by 43 per cent last year. With office take-up at a record high, rents went up by 43 per cent in 2006.

The public sector accounted for 9,345 sq m of Dublin office take-up in 2005, but that this increased to 38,240 sq m in 2006. The public sector now accounts for 16.4% of total office take-up in the Dublin region, up from 5% in 2005.

Dublin is rankes 12th dearest for prime office space in the world with rents in 2008 costing €1000 per square meter

Surely it would make sense to build on state lands to provide office space rather than renting it and paying through the nose.

I predict office space rents will fall sharply

Anyone smell another State sponsored builder Subsidy here?

They might have gone up in 2006 but that was a long time ago in the property market. What are prices like now?

If you could get Civil Servants onto the buses you could sell off their car parks and fund a large chunk of the government, while solving Dublin's traffic problem to boot.

If they rent office space on a business lease they they will pay the rent review no choice

Are you saying they don't rent in Dublin 2 & 4?
