As far as I know ASDA was bought up by WAL-MART in the late 1990's so they are part of the WAL-MART family. I would therefore reckon that the ASDA-branded supermarkets will be coming to Ireland which would be great as ASDA have ongoing price wars with TESCO in the UK.
It always amazed me how many people voted for a party which contains the word "fail".

Wal-mart should be resisted trying to open up anywhere. They pay terribly and fire staff for bogus reasons for trying to unionise. They also use their huge financial muscle and economies of scale to shut down family run businesses.
