When "Despite a fall of 10% in the volume of output in residential construction, the overall volume of output in building and construction activity went up by 4%....due to the continued strong annual growth in the civil engineering sector and in commercial and industrial development...."Originally Posted by GlasgowIrish
Lifted that from the report, do you require further analysis or comment?
There has been an uplift in civil constriction activity in recent months. However there has been plenty disruption in the industry as house building and civil engineering are two very different things and no a lot of companies are engaged in both areas. Good times for some and bad times for others.
Tantum religio potuit suadere malorum.
It's not like you can call a emergency stop to major construction projects like roads.

Damn straight, this illustrates that we are not in a crash, but in a perfectly normal readjustment of the sources of growth for the economy. It is timely and encouraging to see a fall in the residential sector at a time when other building sectors and other industries are growing strongly. This reduces the undue impact it has had on Ireland's economic record in the past 4 years. We're going back to the 90s, where industry and exports lead our economic growth.
