Serbia's mentally disabled face "inhuman" treatmen

Just saw this on the news. Serbia has a long way to go before it can join the EU if this is how it treats its citizens. Film on RTE news was disturbing. Invariably it's always the most vulnerable who suffer until a report like this forces a Gov to act.

Unfortunately evidence of mistreatment such as this won't matter one iota when it comes to looking at Serbian admittance to the EU. The sickening and depressing treatment of children with disabilities in Bulgarian institutions hasn't presented many problems for that country in terms of its admittance to and participation in the EU- indeed people from Ireland are pumping millions into the Bulgarian economy, yet children in institutions there are often left in agony and on occasion let starve.

Money talks- the welfare of the forgotten and voiceless doesn't come into it unfortunately.
