Déjà vu - The Dublin Property bubble - McWilliams

No Doubt he'll be shouted down by the fianna Fail wannabes that fine gael has morphed into, but an interesting article by McWilliams about how wrong the government's proposed "help to buy" scheme is, and how it will inflate the already growing Dublin property bubble.

A sneaking sense of déjà vu | David McWilliams

He offers some solutions as to what the government could do to aviod a repeat of 2000-2006
No doubt enda will be demanding the suicide of McWilliams and anyone else who doesn't subscribe to the government group-think on how there is no property bubble.

The scheme is total madness. Could not believe it when I heard it tbh.

Greens have an alternative policy out. Some overlap with what McWilliams is saying:

    McWilliams' single most sensible suggestion:

...the state could implement a ‘use it or lose it’ approach to planning

Would you care to explain why you think it's madness and how the proposed polices would help?

You know, rather than just linking to a document many won't be inclined to read. It is a discussion site after all.

The same should apply to landbanks and the process of zoning should be far more transparent (I'd like to see it out of control of councils tbh). But then that raises more issues and just pushes the potential for corruption further up the chain.

Even the Bank of England are worried about the nascent property bubble there and are considering capping mortgages.

Noonan and Kenny need to be sectioned if they go ahead with this property scheme and noone should vote for FG or FF in the next election.

If Gilmore sanctions this lunatic proposal he deserves to be charged with facilitating economic treason.

It just shows the total lack of any creative thinking on the part of morons on the gravy train. How long ago did they interfere with property and see the mess they made. They gave out schemes to anhilate the countryside with city style estates so as we had a glut of badly designed buildings all over the place.

And the legacy they left was a bust country with everyone in some form of debt and to beat all the odds on bad decisions....we have a homeless people crises and according to Peter McV a tsuami (approx 40'000) of repossessions and evictions coming down the road.

And this lot decide the best thing to do is 'lets go round again'. It is hard to believe, but real oirish that we (not me) will vote them back in at the coming elections and probably in GE16.

We have no hope of ever moving on while we have this type of government system in place. Jobs for the boys, pensions for the boys, high salaries for the boys and expenses for the boys.....BUT YOU VOTE FOR THE BOYO'S....

Irish society needs affordable ordinary Joe and Josephine homes for Joe and Josephine.
The Irish state desperately needs property prices to increase again to keep the bank balance sheets looking better than they should and also the state desperately needs the tax revenue income stream from the construction industry to keep the ponzi scheme going.

Fluck the state and fluck the banks and all associated with both.

Brian Hayes has spent a lot of time talking up the Dublin real estate market.

Some opinion polls have him in front of the field.

A case of people approving of policies that rip them off ?
