    Bailey brothers set to cash in on Metro North route

    Last Sunday's Sunday Business Post reported;

    http://archives.tcm.ie/businesspost/...story28076.asp

    Brothers Tom and Mick Bailey are planning to develop a scheme of nearly 100,000 square metres on a significant site they own across the road from The Pavilions shopping centre in Swords, Co Dublin.

    The Bailey’s company Bovale had a stand last week at the British Conference of Shopping Centres (BCSC) conference in Gateshead in England for their Charlestown shopping centre, which also included a picture of their Swords site and the scale of development envisioned on it.

    The brothers, whose Charlestown shopping centre in Finglas opened recently, are looking to take advantage of the increase in densities that will be allowed in Swords following the opening of the Metro North route linking the area to the airport and the city centre. Significantly larger densities are envisaged along the route and local authorities have already put levies in place to take advantage of this. The levies will help fund the route’s construction.
    100,000 sq. metres would give you 1000 large apartments at say 500,000 each grossing 500 million.

    It just goes to show how worthwhile it is to be inside the FF tent.

    Property developers to take advantage of a land-bank which is beside a forthcoming transport link.

    Shock horror.

    Anyway, didn't the Bailey Bros settle their tax liability, therefore, they are quite alright to proceed.

    Problem is whilst they did settle a tax bill they did so after many years of the Revenue chased them, no doubt they were using the funds as the key money to purchase land-banks which their good friends in FF ensured received appropriate permissions when required.
    Cheats like this should not be allowed to continue as company directors and the land should be taken off them and reimbursed to the original purchase plus inflation and no benefit from re-zoning, make one big example and you would shake the lot of them and FF until their teeth chattered.

    Not a blueshirt sir, not political at all. Just despise the Del-Boys and corner-boys that make this country mediocre and unjust.
