As we are all too well aware there are many unfortunate people losing their jobs everyday in the country and jobless figures appear to be on the rise. However I feel a lot of smaller number job losses do not make it to national media.

I suggest by posters keeping a look out in local media sources and post figures and sources here we might get a bigger idea of scale.

I noticed this today concerning Dawn Meats in Waterford where up to 50 jobs are to go. This is on top of Bausch and Lomb and Waterford Crystal.

Heard on the radio about 30 jobs gone in Shannon. I did not catch the name of the firm.

2 job losses in my company today. Wrapped up a big project and unfortunately did not have any work for them to do once that contract was completed.

A quick look on Irishjobs.ie shows more than 1200 vacancies in IT alone.
