But I know plenty of people who are really in trouble, they have borrowed on property to buy more, and are going into negative territory on all of them. I think the economy can handle the global credit crisis, but property is definitely done and done. The media will not talk about this subject as they make alot from the advertising side of things.

Oh and I even lowered my asking price by 40k and not a bean, not even one phonecall.
Welcome to the forum, Dillinger. I don't want to get too personal, we all have right to privacy here, but where do you live? The BMW region is experiencing a particularly high number of properties for sale. If you live in that region, perhaps your house is under too much competitive strain from others selling in your area.

    Hi

    No, its in Co Dublin.

With a small mortgage I am not that bothered about it not selling, but it is worrying when you think about people who have 100% mortgages and the like.

I have people at work begging me to give them my overtime slots, as they are struggling with their mortgages. What I have found is, people don't want to hear things like this, they change the subject, or tell me its not as bad as I think.

    F*ck Off.
    How about 800k?
Well obviously thats what they claim its worth, but apparently its a bad time to sell, and they are looking for a quick sale..........

My wife and I have been offered 5 times our combined salary by AIB - the fact that I am on a short term contract doesn't even bother them.

    Surely that would be subprime?
Maybe you should go for something more downmarket, around €400-500 thousand[/quote:172wv59h]

Badboy2, offer them €400-€500 for their €700 property. See what they say. Then wait a while and see if they compe back after they initially turn you down. If you are telling them to F'off anyway, you have nothing to loose.

You'd be absolutely right to do so.

In Salthill, for less than 700k, you can buy this five bedroom fully detached house, with a high quality finish and in excellent decorative order throughout, situated on a corner site with large sunny rear garden.

What auctioneers are you talking about?
€700 for that? Its a 2000 sq. ft house. Unless the pictures are badly taken they look very small for a house that size. Perhaps it has many small rooms. This is a perfect example of why the property market is on the way down, properties are overpriced, end of. I'd offer 595 and see what they say. Any idea how long its been on the market?

Its also out the Knocknacarra road - served by one bus an hour on a road thats not safe to cycle on.

Its closer to Barna than Salthill
