    The Knowledge Economy

    I posted this on http://arandomwalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=98
but would be interested on the debate from the political side too on here!

    so............

So you can see that at Hons Degree level and higher the lowest % of brain drain is 8.3% and these are H- Dip graduates - I suspect because most H Dips in this country go on to become teachers.

It even gets as high as 19.2% brain drain for our PHD graduates!

What changes have the govt made since 2005 to retain a higher %?

Why so few in the South East/Mid East?
Especially compared to the West, it seems very disproportionate
Liquidate labour, liquidate stocks, liquidate the farmers, liquidate real estate.

    Where are these stats from?

Do they include Irish students who study abroad and come home to work?

I wonder how many foreign graduates immigrate to Ireland in comparison with irish graduate emigration?
Actual morality is doing what is right regardless of what you're told. Religious morality is doing what you're told, regardless of if it's right.

No it does not include Irish who study abroad, the Stats are from the Irish Higher Education Authority.

I also wonder about the figures about foreign graduates who come here. I know (anecdotal I know) 2 Eastern Europeans, Slovak and Polish who are graduates but work on an assembly line.

What Im interested in particularl is how are we going to go about starting a knowledge economy, whats the plan exactly?

well, we have about a half a million arts graduates in the country at the moment.... maybe we could start a massive book writing industry?

Who published Bertie junior's book? Maybe he could sort something out for the rest of us?

or it could be the fact that these are all natural hinterlands of Dublin and Cork,
while the north west, west, mid west and south west are all commuter belts of Cork Galway and Limerick.

Waterford city doesn't seem to have any natural gravity of its own (I blame martin cullen)

Whatever about Ireland being a knowledge economy. These seem pretty encouraging:

Cork firm in strategic US internet TV deal

Irish mobile ad service shows spirit

MasterCard and Orbiscom JV tackles ‘maverick spenders’

Another 3 successful home-grown Irish companies.
