100% right. It only gets the shelves stacked, the tables waited on, the papers delivered and the children minded. Sure what's the point of that.

Great to have some filipino or Bangla Deshi to mind your children or mop your floors, particularly when the pittance you pay her is only a tiny proportion of what the rest of us pay her, thru our taxes for her health care, children's English language classes etc.
That's how the Irish working and middle classes are subsidizing the rich's addiction to Mass Immigration.
It's a great deal for the Irish wealthy classes, the weird thing is how some people who claim to be leftists have bought into the scam.

Yea, we should have the lads from Kerry and the girls from Mayo doing it, like in the good old days

We have been attracting too many shelf-stackers and food-servers; now we can focus on going after more of the high-skilled types who add value in the long term.
Yea, a slow-down in the economy will have all the low skilled workers running and encourage foreign investment and the higher skilled
If wages and prices are held down, it will help investment. As for the skills thing, that is entirely a matter of whether the government makes an effort to get the right people.
Yeah, you're right - we got so many of the wrong people last time.....

And the Celtic-Tiger-Handler really needs to get out there and crack the whip, taming inflation

    You lads are gas.
if you think that the skill level of immigration is irrelevant in relation to the impact it has on the population, you should do more research. In all the most recent influx into Britain, because of its skill level, was estimated to be worth about a mars bar a month. Here it's probably not much better.
The growth created immigration not the other way round- no matter how iimmigration's dishonest apologists try to insist otherwise.
Not arguing with you, just that you seem to wilfully miss the point that in a mars bar market the type of immigrant your market will attract will be mars-bar-sellers. Its not the people that you need to get right.

If you are calling a horse to come to you having a lump of sugar helps - a bucket of sheep-nuts rarely works (you will find that the horse stays where he's at, and the sheep will run to you - here endeth the lesson).[/quote:21107siz]
point taken, but the type of open door immigration policy that this shower have instigated is not for the benefit of the country, but for specific powerful groups who gain massively from it. it not about 'planning', they won't even allow open debate, and (as this thread well demonstrates) they use their shills, supporters and various 'ideological' useful idiots to shout down anyone who calls time on them.

They are illegal. Our definition of an entrepreneur is someone who buys houses and waits.
