Agreed, but I would add to that that as long as we agree to pay the debts of private gamblers who only lent for profit we will never have the money we need to pay our way.

Personnally, I don't mind if everyone else changes to punt or sterling. I'd like to keep my euros. Will they come and take them off me?
Depends on what Ireland would make the banks do.

You know that setting our own corporation tax is not an end in itself?

Macker is going to be on Pat Kenny (from 10am). Doing his best rendition of 'God Save the Queen' no doubt.....

Given the question must logically focus on our immediate needs, I voted yes. BUT adopting Stirling is not a option we should ever consider. With the likes of UKIP fulfilling a role it defines for itself amongst Irish political opposition, and the fact our highstreets are effectively British shopping centres, having stirling would invite even more political and economic adventurers to our shores from the UK. Bad idea.

Really? So you think that Multinationals would set up in a peripheral country like this if they had to pay the same corporation tax as in a Core country like Germany? And you do realise that most of our exports are from multinationals?

Losing the power to set our own corporation tac would destroy our economy and set us back nearly two decades.
