Are there legitimate sites that record average house prices

    such as DAFT.ie or myhome.ie?

Do they have an average price index or anything like that?

Note to Admin: I know this thread is very similar to another one on the go at the moment but please can you leave this thread until tomorrow morning? You can then pull it or lock it.

    Thanks.

I would caution however that the data used is the advertised price for the house and not the sale price.
Many houses are not selling at their advertised prices. Most people are able to hang tough for the moment though.

Not exactly of use, but above gives methodology of CSO calculation of housing costs, with comparisons to other countries' approach.

    There's also the ESRI/IP index, available here - http://www.esri.ie/irish_economy/perman ... i_house_p/

Sorry for lengthy URLs - haven't mastered art of hyperlinks yet.

Asking prices are actually on the way back up... www.daft.ie/report
