Sack the Board of Irish Rail and start again. Use the money to build a train station at Dublin airport that goes into the City, with trains running at a rate of more than one per hour. Develop the rail network on the western seaboard even beyond the current western rail corridor so that every town of significance has a station.......
create an iriehs entrprereneurs fund, to encourage the development of indigenious industry..this money could not be used by any multi-national or company which employs more than ten people..it is for new business and very small business which wish to expand..this would allow ireland to become less reliant on direct foreign investment over the medium term............
Increase the state old age pension dramatically..at least double it............
radfical reform to the health system, allowing universal healthcare or as close to it as that money would allow.........
reform the welfare system so that their is more scrutiny of claimants but that more money is available to genuine cases...expand the number of FAS type courses and back to eductaion allowances for people who have been in the welfare system for a long time.......................
spend money makingthe lifeboat service perosnnell state funded expand the service rapidly and resouerce it better
Build many more drug treatment centres with state of the art facilities..anyone addict who commits a crime agrees to take part in this gets a twenty-five per cent reduction in their sentence....while any non-criminal addict can enter the facility at any time to recieve treatment........
Reform and spend money on facilities for young offenders the curreny system does not work, there needs to be an eleemnet of re-training as well as detention involved and there needs to be more places made available...............
Fund a proper carers aloowance system........
better tax breaks for working families..........
reduction in levels of personal taxation........
make eductauion cheaper by abolishingmany ofregistartion and stationary fees which parents must pay.......
reduce tax on alcohol(major employer and improve cost of living) and reduce VRT
massive investment in the westof Ireland,.......in infracture.....employment opportunities to try to halt teh death of the west and help to redress the economic dependence on dublin and the communter belt...........
these things should be done over a decade and many are revenue generating sowill hekp to fund several of the others

None of your proposals require a reform of the economy.

If you want to be serious, why do you think the economy is in need of reform?
I'm not being serious. I just want to see where peoples priotities lie, if they had the chance to do something.

And yes, I do believe this economy needs radical reform, but mainly in the energy sector (We cannot keep using things that will run out as some stage)

yes svereal of them do. How is reducingt he rate of personal taxtaion not reforming the economy..or shifting the emphasis of the economy on indigenious industry and away from multi-nationals..or a massive expansion of the resources devoted to alternative energy........they may not involve anything hugely radical but that woulod be because the economy is growing by 7% a year..unemployment is low, tax reveneues are up etc. nothing radical is needed just a gentle rebalancing..and a trillion euro akllows for a lot of gentle rebalancing

By your definition, the economy is constantly being reformed. A "gentle rebalancing" does not qualify as economic reform in my book.

I would buy the next general election.

EUR 1 trillion works out at around EUR 250,000 per person in the country.

I wonder how much it would cost to actually buy the election . I doubt it would cost that much. You could mail out tokens that say "Will pay EUR 100 to the bearer, if the Trillion Party gets more than 90 seats in the upcomming election".

I think if you set it to 1000, you would surely win :P.

OTOH, people on minimum wage make around 17k per year. Would people want 17k*5 years payment to hand over control of the government ?.

Ofc, it would be much cheaper to just give FF and FG 50 million each on condition that they appoint you Taoiseach .

    Trillion Euros...
    Give every citizen €250,000.
    Simple.
