An end to absolute poverty. No more homeless people. Greater, but more scrutinised social welfare payments.

Universal Healthcare! (with that kind of money it wouldn't be a pipe dream)

Higher standard of education, and an extra english speaking class in schools so the new irish don't get left behind and slow things down for everybody else.

Destroy every piece of transport infrastructure we have (bar the luas) and start again. This time we build them to accomodate four times the amount of traffic/people that the current one's were so we can have COMFORT on them aswell.

That might be 2-3 trillions worth but we're dreaming, right? 8)

an it won't cost too much to scrape off the "lana bus" paint. That's about the extent of our public transport infrasyructure.

I would try and make Ireland Carbon neutral by 2010. With that kind of Capital investment you could put a windfarm in every field in Ireland.

You know little of what money is and even less about inflation.

You may as well ask what would be the effect of pouring a trillion litres of water on O'Connell street and for argument's sake saying it doesn't make it wet.
Your exactly the type of moron I hoped wouldn't have posted on this thread.

Its hypothetical you simple minded fool, if you did not get this clear indication from the start of this thread then you definately don't know how to read.

Maybe we should dumb it down for you, so as not to confuse you:

If you want to be serious, why do you think the economy is in need of reform?

definitely agree with the idea of building more renewable energy sources.......
allow pubs and clubs to open at differing times, with licenses for everything from 24hr drinking to 11pm closing, this has shown itself to reduce anti-social behaviousr, judges decide which pubs get the late licenses accoring to the previous record of that pub and there be, at leats at the start restrictions on the number of late houses in ecah town...
Sack the Board of Irish Rail and start again. Use the money to build a train station at Dublin airport that goes into the City, with trains running at a rate of more than one per hour. Develop the rail network on the western seaboard even beyond the current western rail corridor so that every town of significance has a station.......
create an iriehs entrprereneurs fund, to encourage the development of indigenious industry..this money could not be used by any multi-national or company which employs more than ten people..it is for new business and very small business which wish to expand..this would allow ireland to become less reliant on direct foreign investment over the medium term............
Increase the state old age pension dramatically..at least double it............
radfical reform to the health system, allowing universal healthcare or as close to it as that money would allow.........
reform the welfare system so that their is more scrutiny of claimants but that more money is available to genuine cases...expand the number of FAS type courses and back to eductaion allowances for people who have been in the welfare system for a long time.......................
spend money makingthe lifeboat service perosnnell state funded expand the service rapidly and resouerce it better
Build many more drug treatment centres with state of the art facilities..anyone addict who commits a crime agrees to take part in this gets a twenty-five per cent reduction in their sentence....while any non-criminal addict can enter the facility at any time to recieve treatment........
Reform and spend money on facilities for young offenders the curreny system does not work, there needs to be an eleemnet of re-training as well as detention involved and there needs to be more places made available...............
Fund a proper carers aloowance system........
better tax breaks for working families..........
reduction in levels of personal taxation........
make eductauion cheaper by abolishingmany ofregistartion and stationary fees which parents must pay.......
reduce tax on alcohol(major employer and improve cost of living) and reduce VRT
massive investment in the westof Ireland,.......in infracture.....employment opportunities to try to halt teh death of the west and help to redress the economic dependence on dublin and the communter belt...........
these things should be done over a decade and many are revenue generating sowill hekp to fund several of the others
