    Austerity. What austerity?

    Austerity. What austerity?
While the rest of us are tightening our belts and getting prepared for even more austerity in the next two Budgets [at least] the Finance Bill 2012, to be published later today, includes major tax breaks to lure top earners here.

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...311465114.html

Are these tax breaks justified to lure senior executives from multinationals to Ireland given the hardship already endured, and still likely, by cutbacks in Social Welfare payments and other services, and extra charges applied all over the place to the rest of us? Particularly, as the Irish Times article points out:
the financial services industry has been lobbying for a low threshold so that it would apply to entire project teams and not just the most senior executives.

    Jobs - at what price?

Ah yes, is this the FG policy, which was clearly outlined in the 5 point plan, whereby when income inequality is worsening and you are making your citizenry poorer you add fuel to that fire and then punch those ablaze in the face?

Sure they're only economic geniuses. I also note that the IFSC lobbied for something like this (and it is expected to benefit them) which means that it is BAD for the rest of us.

While Kenny was telling the world from Davos, the little people are to blame, others were having a word in his ear, obviously.

Just what we need; heads of Financial Services firms from all over the world manipulating the fluck out of Ireland even more so.

Lets not wrap their knuckles, let flucking reward them instead. Whilst simultaneously belittling the greater population to ensure the same people they are now proposing lower taxes for (bank debts/bondholders) continue to keep getting paid with your taxes and mine.

That's an ironic tasting piece of cake alright.

It was the so called financial wizards that caused most of the current recessionary woes.

If the Irish govt bring even one of these bastards here and then reward him with special tax concessions there will be riots in the streets that will make Greece look like a Sunday picnic.

    Unfortunately no.

I dont think you have the first idea of whats really going on in Ireland at the moment.

Politicians have already been roughed up at public meetings.
This sort of thing only happened before prior to the outbreak of the Irish civil war.

Its just a matter of time and the Irish govt should tread very carefully indeed.
