Romney sees Ireland as the benchmark for government overspending.

Romney Won't Let America Become Like Ireland, WorldIrish

Very interesting that Romney should highlight Ireland rather than a country like France or the Scandis. It looks like we are are being your as a example of gross government mismanagement and while it cannot be disputed it can't do us any longterm good.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

Given the breath taking ignorance he showed on anything outside the US borders so far I wouldn't be too worried ....... especially as he'll be as important and memorable as Michael Dukakis by November

We are also an example of a deregulated free market gone bad. Somehow I suspect Romney won't be mentioning that aspect.

In Ireland we had a deregulated market, low tax and high government spending. We're the perfect cautionary story for any economic theory - something for everything to point at.

Wouldn't worry too much about it, it's the pot calling the kettle black at worst. Won't harm our reputation.

Romney is a whore who believes in nothing and will say anything.
