This guy (Director of the National Museum, Pat Wallace) came on the Pat Kenny radio program this morning and later was on the 6’OC TV news complaining about how he was forced into taking early retirement from the public sector because in his own words he was “Made offers that public servants can’t refuse in the “Don Corleone fashion”!!
He said the “The offer is Compelling”… “I’ve done my sums… and went to Accounts.. I’d be better of financially” .. at the same time he behaves as if he were a victim?..
He himself decided to grab a LOTTO retirement package from a bankrupt state who’s children are emigrating in droves and then he goes on our national airwaves to whinge about his predicament??
I’m sure he did a good job for which he was well paid and pensioned for but do these people not realise that they are privileged to be awarded financial security for life in a bankrupt state now borrowing heavily to pay their pensions? What exactly is he complaining about?..
He attacked the “very crude method” used by the Department of Public Expenditure to encourage public servants to retire before the February deadline.
“I’ve given remarkable service over 40 years, but this is a very unsatisfactory way to conclude your working career. No respect is being paid to what you’ve done, to the staff of the institution or its ethos.” He said the scheme involved the imposition of a crude rule which amounted to “go and f*** off out of here”.
Mr Wallace (63) could have worked until October 2013 before reaching retirement age. He said he came back after Christmas “full of beans” but then thought, “do I have to go on suffering like this?”
