The US did this for the last decade on the back of cheap credit. Credit is still cheap so China and Germany need to play their part by importing more.
Did you recently look at the export numbers for products that left these shores to find their German customers?

The credit crises spread without a doubt from the US to Europe and I am not surprised to see similar extreme effects in Ireland and the UK as they are the most US "inspired" countries in Europe.

Without a doubt? Are you sure? The US binged on cheap credit but this was used to suck in imports from countries like Germnay which dragged them out recession. Nothing is as clear cut as Eurotrons would have you believe.

Amazing, but it seems that some people seem to forget that their banks were throwing money at bad credit risks, and refusing to do due diligence.....which is kind of lazy really.

Though I suppose, lecturing people in Montrose about bad investements is kind of an "undiplomatic" thing to do, for a diplomat.

How many out of retirement career reruns for Byrne and Mike Murphy will be required to sort this mess out ?

So printing money is a form of global charity effort I guess? You can already see that Obama is changing course and is pursuing austerity budget strategy now. QE did not work, QE2 did not work and QE3 will not work without reducing cost and increasing competitiveness.

I think the amount of money Irish investors have lost in the US is significant and it is high time to sue some of the US banks if we can't burn them.

Oh god another QE nut. We aren't talking about quantitative easing we are talking about the flow of imports and exports. And for the record QE1 did work. The US would rightly screwed otherwise.

Waffler has kept himself in hiding since November.

To be honest, I doubt that PK would be as capable as Waffler when it comes to throwing a strop about nothing.

In fact is there anybody who can effectively throw a strop about absolutely nothing, to the same extent as the Waffler ??

I'm speechless even Greenspan the champion of the neoliberal ideology acknowledges that QE1 and QE2 did not work.
