Today the Visa and Mastercard websites were attacked, hacked into and closed down. This follows a string of hackings on corporate and state websites since November 5th. The recent intensity is payback for the arrest of Wikileaks founder Assange.

Is this linked to Cantona's bank run or the problems with ATMs at bank of Ireland? Is this a coordinated effort to attack the financial system similar to the 1999 Fincher film "Fight Club"?

Anon has launched a DDOS attack on Visa and Mastercard's websites and plan to do the same to PayPal as they have refused to have any more dealings with Wikileeks after pressure from the US.

They are also planning to do the same to twitter, as twitter seem to not be allowing wikileek related tweets to trend.

This is not hacking, it is a DDOS attack and this was done to the wikileeks website within the last two weeks as well.

However on that basis, one wonders why none of these pymt processors appear(ed) to have any issues (moral or otherwise) with transmitting pymts to illegal (child) porn sites...

Somewhat ironic too given that the New York Times published all WikiLeak data yet Visa/MC/PP close down payment / contribution service. We can draw on many examples where media is biased and aligned to major political interests. Seems in this instance, the electronic bankers succumb yet NYT took a stance. Interesting era in which we live....
