Today the Visa and Mastercard websites were attacked, hacked into and closed down. This follows a string of hackings on corporate and state websites since November 5th. The recent intensity is payback for the arrest of Wikileaks founder Assange.
Is this linked to Cantona's bank run or the problems with ATMs at bank of Ireland? Is this a coordinated effort to attack the financial system similar to the 1999 Fincher film "Fight Club"?

Operation Payback - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaOperation Payback is a coordinated group of attacks on internet piracy opponents by internet activists. It started as retaliation to distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on torrent sites, piracy proponents decided to launch DDoS attacks on piracy opponents in return. It snowballed from there into a wave of attacks on several major anti-piracy groups. Operation Payback is affiliated with Anonymous. In December 2010 Operation Payback organizers focused their attention on DDoS attacks on websites of companies that oppose WikiLeaks.
