The only thing that got us into this mess was human behaviour. People can blame a British economist of the early 20th century who has been misunderstood by political classes ever since or blame the fact that regulators didnt do their jobs on Thatcher and Reagan if they wish.

Bottom line - we've been here before (i.e. world financial disasters) and we'll be here again.

Current expenditure is being maintained (actually falling slightly) not increased. There was no Keynsian stimulus package unleashed in Ireland and more importantly no-one seems to be advocating one.

So its boom and bust infinitum? I dont accept that, other countries are riding out this recession in far better shape than we are, I presume they behaved like human beings too?

The IMF will do nothign of the sort, they will impose higher taxes than either FF or FG and cut expenditure to the bone turfing untold thousands more unto the dole which by that time will be a pittance.

Call it what you like i just look at history. Human nature hasn't changed.

People still lie, deceive and kill for power, money and prestige and people still go to war to defend their ideologies and religions etc.

Boom and busts will continue facilitated by human nature - fear and greed.

Kenny seems to be fighting the 2007 election still, how can he possibly deliver no tax cuts and no sepending cuts? Does he take us for idiots?

Come on FG, do the country a favour and ditch Kenny, he's a massive liability!

Kenny was retained as leader to appease the old school FG supporters, these are people who will vote FG no matter who is leader.

There's a lot of floating voters out there that would vote FG if there was a change in leadership.

It goes right back to the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913. Credit rush in the 1920s after the mini depression of 1920-1921. Hoover screwed up in 1929 - 1933, Roosevelt and Keynes made an even bigger mess after that. Neo Keynesianis led to the chaos in the 1970s. Neo Liberalism was a short term fix that blew up 3 years ago. Now they have reverted back to Keynes, this time with borrowed money.

Common denominator is Central Banking, Statism, Fractional Reserve Banking, Fiat Currency with the new addition of steroids called derivatives.

Cure is simple, let market forces work.
