Instead of competing for business with Cork, why not establish a global centre for renewable energy? Lots of hot air down in Kerry.

While this is great news, If this was an FF TD in opposition letting the cat out of the bag on local radio, I'm sure this forum would be awash with comments like "bloody gombeen trying to claim credit" etc. etc.

Eh, have you looked at that site you just quoted? A tad short on details. To me it looks more like a college project than the website of a center for excellence for anything, even if it is under construction.

Work in the pharma area so was interested to see this - interested and v surprised, spoke with some people I know in the area in EI/IDA - they were surprised too, no-one I know in the industry had heard about this before today.
It would be lovely to think I was wrong but I have grave concerns that this is serious pie in the sky stuff and a quick look at their website does nothing to lessen these concerns
no indication of where funding is to come from
A very strange section on "sponsorship"
No people of any significant experience in clinical trials/pharma/biopharma announced as part of the current team - seems to be a glut of builders/lawyers/accountants and project managers
And call me nit picking but it's hard to take a group seriously that can't even spell "governmental" properly on their home page.

interesting that the phone number is 021 i.e. Cork.

This smells like an early Spirit of Ireland approach to public relations.

Set up a half baked website.
Talk about the best case scenario benefits and jobs etc.
    Tell everyone it's a no-brainer.
Let the feasibility, planning and finance be sorted out later.

Sounds like somebody wants to create an IDA industrial park. A Pharmaceutical centre would make more sense in Cork where most of these companies are already based. How rezoning land is supposed to magically create 4000 jobs is beyond me - typical political spin.

Er, it was Radio Kerry who broke the story. I believe they asked Ferris to go as he was at a meeting about the project last week. He didn't claim credit for anything.

The site is located in an industrial estate in Tralee.

Tells where the money is coming from if you want it to have any credibility. Which pharma company will be the anchor investee in the project? If they don't have one, they don't yet have a plan worth talking about.
