Low paid jobs, 47 work permits issued in 2015, 39 in 2016, no figures available for 2017 yet.

Not sure if it should go here. Aldi moving ot living wage from Feb 1st for new staff, a 20% increase on what new staff get compared to now.

I gather they are good employers, and retain staff quite well, so this may also help them attract new staff.

...and Lidl now doing the same. Competition for workers in the retail sector.

A report referred to on rte news, by Trinity Business School and Abrivia recruitment, predicting wage rises and increase in recruitment and increase in recruitment of returning emigrants.
    Can't find report online.

30 jobs lost as city bar Rendezvous closes

This one went under the radar for me .. Apparently very unexpected and the staff again informed by text.

However I would be very very very surprised if the Rendezvous did not open again under new ownership very very soon.

GREAT News for THE REAL CAPITAL Like

New T5 data centre campus will boost Cork’s credentials as Ireland’s next data hub

Cork could be the new go-to location for data centre campuses as Dublin runs out of power capacity.

Atlanta-headquartered data centre player T5 Data Centers is to establish a major campus near Cork city that will employ 200 people during its construction and at least 15 people full-time once it is operational.

The [email protected] campus is a 32.5-acre, 46-megawatt (MW) dedicated data centre campus with full planning permission for two enterprise facilities of 7MW each, and a cloud targeted facility of 32MW.
Though some might snipe or grin at the 15 fulltime jobs, data centres are always low employers themselves BUT BUT BUT its what will get built up around them going forward that matters & will create much more employment ..

Also it should ensure BETTER Internet in the region

And shur anyway Cork city area now has way more than enough STARBUCKS to keep the beardy IT millenial hipsters afloat in cups of crap Joe for a millenium
