Daft.ie House Price Index down 3.4% in Q1

Signs of stability in house prices | BreakingNews.ie

There has been considerable discussion on house prices of late....and the Minister for Finance saying at the weekend that the bottom of the market had been achieved...but another indicator is the lenght of time houses are remaining on the market....a colleague in work put her house up for sale and sold within 3 weeks(Dublin north side) and yet there are houses in my estate for sale for almost 12 months with little sign of them shifting....now her's a 3 bed semi....and here they are 4 bed semi and detached...so is it still a beginners market?...and how are things down your way???

We have houses in our estate for sale the past two years, I only know of one which sold. People do not want to sell their house
    1) at a loss
    2) at a price less than they imagaine the house should be worth
In some areas house prices have gone down 50% but only one or two sale agreed signs.
I dont think we will see the bottom of the housing market before 2012, I think we have seen nothing yet by way of increasing tax, job losses & cuts in public spending. People are struggeling but paying at the mo, I feel there will be many house repossessions & this will drive prices down even further. God help us all

    cui bono?

the Minister for Finance is the biggest landlord in the country by an Irish mile.

his business needs house prices to increase so he can justify his business plan.

So, bearing all this in mind, how sure can we be that we are getting credible, objective advice?

I mean, this is obvious, but isn't it a farce (dare I say the T word) that the gigantically indebted Minister is now "talking up the market". The one-trick-party is back to its old game again.

Emperor, clothes. Lunatics, asylum. etc etc

As an addendum, I now see the attraction for FF to start NAMA and take over all those construction debts.

In their mind, they are really "getting into the property market". And in a big way, a way so big it totally outdoes all the excesses of the last 5 years. They are into the property market for a cool half a trillion euros. Cue shorting laughter at the racecourse as they brag about the size of their portfolio.

This is why we need a change of government. We need a government that thinks property is a dirty word.

Well, thats certainly not FG or Labour. Most of them were up to their necks in property speculation - and would love to be "at it" again.

I have a house for sale, basically willing to shift it at any price it will go for. have had two people look at it in the last 6 months.

I think I've said this before but if you have only had 2 viewings in the last 6 months then the asking price is too high regardless of what your neighbours are asking.
