    Anne,

I doubt the €7.5 bill will be an issue. It is politically explosive.
There is already enough anecdotal evidence to suggest both the Regulator and Govt knew this type of "support" was not only known to be going on but they even supported it.

If this issue comes centre stage, Fitzpatrick will be delighted as it will suck in heavweights from all over the place.

I also don't feel the Golden Circle is going anywhere.
Astonishingly the appallingly sloppy TV3 openly called this "propping up the share price".
That is a startingly dumb thing to say.
There is nothing stopping any PLC when informed by a major stock holder of their intention to sell to go and seek out a replacement.
Maybe Anglo's methodology in doing so has a case to answer but the plethora of numbskulls who keep shouting "share support" don't know what they are talking about.

My best guess is Seanie's Lanigan's Ball routine with his loans in and out of INBS might be the only shot at a conviction.

Either way it's just a an orchastrated circus to keep attention away from the real culprits for the whole economic calamity, first and foremost the ruling government.

Could they simply go for reckless trading - it opens up the prospect of unlimited liability.

In cases of this nature, specific individual charges are impossible to predict but where it becomes necessary to prefer a range of individual charges in a fraud case, these are usually accompanied by a kind of omnibus sweeper type charge to the effect that cashholders were induced to part with, invest, handover, whatever, their money on foot of purported fact(s) which ultimately were proven not to be facts but rather a pretence of fact, hence this is the fraud identified. It is not unknown for individual charges to fall one by one and yet for that charge to succeed but be aware that the prosecution of fraud in a jurisdiction such as ours is fraught with perplexity. There may be an absolute freight train of suspicion and doubt which do not add up to a single proven fact and doubt at the end of the day goes to the suspect.

The term 'financial assistance' may be familiar to those who have been exposed to Company Law.

Gardai to interview key figures in bank for second time - Irish, Business - Independent.ie

KEY figures in Anglo Irish Bank -- including former chairman Sean FitzPatrick -- are to be interviewed again by gardai, the Irish Independent has learned.

The revelation comes as gardai prepare to move into the final phase of their investigation into alleged financial irregularities at the bank.

These include the suspected shifting of large sums of cash between secret Anglo accounts here and offshore and the reasons for the transfers.

It is also alleged that after the money had been shifted, the offshore accounts were closed and efforts made to eliminate all traces of their existence.

Some of the figures have not been interviewed previously but others, including Mr FitzPatrick, have already been interrogated by detectives about other aspects of the joint investigation.

Senior staff at Morgan Stanley have already given evidence to investigators through affidavits lodged in the High Court in London, under a mutual assistance agreement between here and the UK.

Investigators are satisfied with the progress achieved in recent months and the massive amount of evidence already gathered
Tick tock... We'll see how this goes, they're going to need smoking gun connecting the higherups to the spod that made the transfer though.
If you're the first out the door, that's not called panicking.
