€4.5 million award. Taxpayer shagged again.

    Shortt Awarded €4.5m

Can't see this on the forum anywhere.

Can somebody tell me what action was taken against the Gardai who have cost the taxpayers €4.5m? I'm almost afraid to ask.

I assume that they have some superannuation contributions deducted from their salaries. Like all civil and public service pensions however their contributions go nowhere near meeting the cost. It's general taxation that picks up the bulk of the tab.

macCurtin gets his pension, I'd imagine its the same unless there's some sort of constitutional amenement.

Curtin wasn't sacked he resigned. I think it's the reason for a lot of people resigning before getting the sack is to hang onto their pensions
